Pedorthics, according to the 28th edition of Dorland's Medical Dictionary, is "The design, manufacture, fit and modification of shoes and related foot appliances as prescribed for the amelioration of painful and/or disabling conditions of the foot." A Certified Pedorthist is an allied health professional who is specifically trained and educated in Pedorthics.
